violetas azucaradas . sugared violets
I am so thankful for all the newness of May. It seems the kids are always finding another tesorito popping out of the ground. R and W collected enough violets to make violetas azucaradas - the main course for their afternoon tea party. Here is a receta that I translated from this book:
materiales (materials)
unas violetas (violets)
tazas para medir (measuring cups)
azúcar (sugar)
agua (water)
papel encerado (wax paper)
una bandeja (tray)

recoge las violetas [collect the violets]
combina dos tercios (2/3) de taza azúcar con media (1/2) taza agua [combine 2/3 cup sugar with 1/2 cup water]
hierve durante 5-10 minutos para formar un jarabe [boil for 5-10 minutes to form a syrup]
baña cada flor en el jarabe [dip each flower in the syrup]
pon las flores sobre papel encerado para secarse [place the flowers on wax paper to dry]
